8 months along

So here we are... 32 weeks. Officially in the 8th month of our pregnancy.

A couple weeks ago we went to a Newborn Care class at the hospital. It was a looonnnnggg day.
The class was 5 hours on a Saturday.
It was fun, I guess. They went over most of the basics.
Diapering, bathing, feeding, swaddling, belly button care, circumcision care, etc.
The best part of the whole class was the fact that both Chad and I knew how to do everything already.
It's really nice to know we won't be completely overwhelmed with a new baby.

Last week I started having some painful, more frequent Braxton Hicks contractions.
I've been feeling the BH contractions for quite a few weeks, but never like these ones.
I called the Women's Clinic and talked to the advise nurse and she said keep an eye on them for a couple hours and if they don't go away to go up to Labor and Delivery to get monitored.
I also called my mom, I tend to trust her advise more than anyone else.
Anyway, I drank two large glasses of water, laid down on the couch, and they didn't go away.
So off to the hospital I went.
I didn't want to be all drama-licious, but as a first time mom I went because it's better to be safe than sorry.
They hooked me up to the monitors for a couple hours.
I had no contractions and the baby was moving like crazy.
I felt stupid for making a big deal out of nothing, but was thankful that I wasn't going into early labor.
The doctor on call checked me, no dilation or anything.
I was told to take it easy and follow-up with my midwife in a couple days.

So last Friday I went for my follow-up appt.
She checked me again and now I'm dilated to 1 cm... and guess what that means??
Absolutely nothing!
Women can be dilated for weeks at a 1 so they told me again to take it easy and gave me a bunch of pamphlets on signs of early labor.

So baby's doing great, he's getting big, I'm getting more and more uncomfortable.
He kicks and stretches and rolls around. He's getting into more defined sleep/awake patterns.
I'm starting to nest, I can't wait to get our apartment ready for his arrival.
I've reorganized his clothes 3 times already.

We have another appt next week and our Labor classes start on June 6th.
I'm so excited to meet my little man.
Every time I watch a show and they give birth, I start bawling when the baby comes out. :)

31 weeks
