Last Sunday, a group of us went up to Mt Hood with the KUFO Rehab with Ricker bus. For $25 you got a ride up to the mountain, a lift ticket, lunch from Chipotle, and a t-shirt. It was part of Chad's Christmas present and we'd been really excited to go up.
We woke up early to meet everyone and drive to the parking lot where we were supposed to meet the bus. It was Chad and me, Todd and his girlfriend Liz, Justin, and Jeremy. We got out to Gresham right on time and there was NO bus. It didn't end up showing up until about 10 minutes after we were supposed to leave. That's KUFO for you I guess.
Once we made it up to Skibowl, Chad and I rented skis and got on the lift. It's been over a year since I've been skiing and I've only been one time before. I didn't quite remember everything my legs were supposed to do and ended up falling a lot because I didn't know how else to stop. Trip #2 up the lift we decided to try the other side of the run. I thought it looked easier. I was wrong! The first really steep hill I came to I ended up skiing out of bounds. Chad waited at the bottom of the hill as a stranger came up to me, asked me if I was ok, then proceeded to tell me to be careful or I'd hit a tree. I tried and I tried to make it down this darn hill. Needless to say, I ended up having a minor tantrum and Chad had to hold me as we skied back down to the bottom.
It was time for a break!! Liz, who was snowboarding for the first time, was also ready to warm up so we went into the lodge for a little while. Chad went with the other guys up to the jumps and scary stuff I would never do. Once our toes were warm we went up for round 3. I went slow and actually started remembering how to stop and turn. I made it all the way down without falling once. I was very proud of myself.
We skied from 1pm - 7pm and then rode the bus back into town. My legs were on fire! I ended up with a few bruises but had a blast and really want to go again.
I didn't have my camera so I'm using the web to further describe our adventure.
This is the bottom lift of Skibowl lit up for night skiing.
An exaggeration of Chad's awesomeness!
And this is what I felt I looked like. Chad reassured me that I really did ok.

LOVE the last two pictures!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to attempt boarding next weekend...
haha I love your pretend pictures! PS. Ever since we went and tried on the dresses Adelyn has not stopped talking about how she's a flower girl. If we say she's a princess or anything she says, "No I'm a flower girl!"
ReplyDeleteThat last picture made me laugh! If you ever want to come over to Utah for some *real* snow.. (hehehe) you guys are always welcome to stay with us! :)
